A series of Unscented Baby Soap

One of my friends's expecting a baby girl. We are so happy for her and I made a series of baby soap for her little princess.

Baby skin is extremely sensitive so I don't want to add any fragrance and synthetic colorants although they are skin-safe. The color of these baby soaps come from either unrefined oils or botanical infused oils. I made 5 batches of baby soap, one color for one batch, 100% natural!

Ingredients: Avocado Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil.

*** Avocado Baby Soap ***
The lovely green color is from unrefined avocado oil. It is one of my favorite carrier oils. Report said Avocado Oil a vitamin rich oil for those with sensitive skin and skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also good for baby skin too.

*** Calendula Baby Soap ***
The golden yellow color comes from unrefined palm oil, it is also one of my favorite carrier oils. For this one, I used calendula infused olive oil. Calendula is amazing for its healing and soothing power to the skin. It has anti-inflammatory, really good for baby's diaper rash.

*** Goat Milk Baby Soap ***
I added goat milk instead of water in this batch, and the color turned a little bit beige than water based soap, which I found most of milk based soap have the same situation, the shade is getting darker from light beige to caramel, interesting! Goat’s Milk has been used for centuries as a natural emollient that helps to soothe, moisturize, re-hydrate and rejuvenate skin. It also contains vitamins and it has 3 times more beta-casein than cow's milk. Caseins are easily absorbed into the skin and allow for quick hydration of dry skin. Goat’s Milk also helps balance the skin's natural pH.

*** Chamomile Baby Soap ***
I love infused oils. For this batch, I used chamomile infused olive oil, which is a nourishing oil for both dry and irritated skin. Chamomile is beneficial for skin problems. It is very mild that can be used for young children and even babies.

*** Alkanet Baby Soap ***
The lilac purple color is from a natural herb called Alkanet Root. It is a natural dye that people use for decades. Alkanet root infused oil is dark red to burgundy, but after mixng with lye water, the chemical reaction turn the red/burgundy to purple/indigo. I am having lots of fun playing alkanet infused oil. =) In traditional Chinese medicine, Alkanet is known for its power of anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant. Alkanet Ointment, the famous Chinese remedy, is good for soothing skin rashes and insect bites.

Enjoy these baby soaps, and the little one. =)

Clay Soaps

Front to back: Red Clay Soap, Olive Green Clay Soap and Rhassoul Clay Soap.

The formula of these 3 batches of clay soaps are the same, which is Olive : Coconut : Palm = 3 : 1 :1 , simple and easy to remember, isn't it? =)

I scented all 3 batches with lemongrass essential oil only. The strength of aroma of lemongrass oil is pretty strong, only 1% of said eo is good enough and its aroma can last for months. These batches were made end of last year, but till now (Aug/2011), I still can smell the aroma of lemongrass!

Can you tell the what kind of soap mold I used? .........milk carton ;-P

Ingredients: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Red Clay, Olive Green Clay, Rhassoul Clay, Lemongrass essential oil.

Gentle Chamomile Soap

Oh, haven't updated my blog for a while...my day-time job is killing me recently... gotta speed up my updates. :P

This was another batch of soap with dried flowers on top. I made it right after the "romantic rose soap". As most of you knew it already, this kind of soap look good but not good in use. ha ha ha

So, that's the only two batches of soap I added dried flowers so far. And I guess I will not do it again in the near future...

Ingredients:
extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, sweet almond oil, EO of sweet orange and globulus eucalyptus, comfrey root powder, chamomile flower, goat's milk.
